No Shit: “Squadron 42” Is Delayed Again
Chris Roberts has announced that Squadron 42 is delayed again. He blames Rockstar, which is releasing Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated game in video game history, right when he finally wanted to give his fans his long-awaited single player magnum opus. That is solid reasoning; no game would survive going head-to-head with GTA VI, its genre and platform are completely irrelevant in this calculation.
Problem is, I don't buy that Squadron 42 is actually ready. If I had a billion dollars, I’d be willing to bet that Chris would have delayed that thing no matter what. That game was planned to be released in 2015. I once wrote a rather objective little story at the end of 2016 when Roberts delayed it for the second time and got massive shit for being too negative on him — what delicious irony. Earlier that year, a Cloud Imperium Games developer had implied in a live stream that all missions in the game were actually done. Ten years later, the game still isn’t out. And this time, it’s GTA’s fault. Sure…
